SEPTEMBER IS CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Please join Mrs. Miller and the Carter Staff in raising awareness for childhood cancer during September by purchasing yellow ribbons to decorate from your first hour teacher.  Each paper ribbon will cost $1 and will be hung up in the school once it is decorated and returned to your first hour teacher.  All money raised will be donated to Alex's Lemonade Stand to help fund childhood cancer research.  Whichever 1st hour classroom sells the most yellow ribbons will win donuts & juice!  The contest will take place from Monday, 9/19/16 - Friday, 9/23/16.  On Friday, 9/23/16, we are asking everyone to wear gold, yellow, or your Team Princess Ember t-shirts in order to show your support.

Dear Parents & Students:

Please participate in this year's Classic Recipes Cookie Dough & Entertainment Book fundraiser to raise money for PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and activities for ALL of our students!

Our goal is for every student to sell at least 5 items!

EARLY RELEASE POLICY

"6th Hour Early Release Policy"

Hall Pass
  • Please send a note with your child stating your child's name and time to be released.  This note should be sent to the main office PRIOR to the start of school and a pass will be issued to your child.
  • Calls for Early Release MUST be made PRIOR to 2 pm.
  • Staff will not be calling classrooms after 2 pm.

Homework and daily in-class work may account for up to 25% of the final grade.  The remaining 75% of the final grade is to be determined on fair and equitable, multiple measures of assessments* that will permit a student to demonstrate his/her mastery level of the course's content.

CARTER MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS: 9/23/16

  • The Carter Ecology Club will have its first meeting on Wednesday, September 28 from 2:50-4 in room 307. Please see Ms. Russell in Room 310 or Mrs. DePolo in Room 309 to get a permission slip. Bring the signed permission slip with you to the first meeting. 
  • Card Club will be on Thursdays in Room 408, the Art Room, from 3pm – 4 pm.  Students can bring their Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards.  Students can also draw Anime.  The first card club meeting will be the last Thursday of this month, September 29th.  See Ms. Greenblatt in the Art Room for more information."
  • Interested in joining Student Council? There will be an informational meeting Thursday, September 29th at 7:30 am in the Media Center. Hope to see you there.
  • Attention all WEB Leaders. There will be a quick WEB meeting Friday, September 30th at 7:30 am in the Media Center to discuss upcoming events for next month.
  • Please help Mrs. Ambroziak and Ms. Ceravolo celebrate the Mexican holiday, The Day of the Dead, by bringing in plastic gallon milk jugs for a class project. They will be accepting donations of milk jugs
  • from now until the end of October. Simply drop them off to Room 409 or 102. Gracias!
  • Attention Carter Staff and Students:  The Cougars first volleyball game is on Monday, September 26th at home.  The 8th grade girls volleyball team will play first against Grissom, with 7th grade following.  The game begins at 4 pm and is $2 to enter.  Concessions will be available too.  Come out and cheer your girls to the first victory of the season!!
