Welcome to Medical Machining
Application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology for healthcare purposes (e.g. diagnostic or therapeutic). This field seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine, combining the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to advance health care treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy.
Students accepted into the program will have the opportunity to construct medical implants, surgical tools, and scientific instruments from raw materials. They will learn to use advanced software programs like Solid Works and Master Cam in the CPC's new Medical Machinist Laboratory.
This new program will inspire our students to create new tools for medicine, and is a huge step forward for those who are considering a career in medical, Industial Arts, Manufacturing, Bioengineering, Service, or entrepreneurship as Michigan and the U.S. restructure their economies to meet the demands of the future.
