Blue Ribbon

Cromie Elementary School in the Warren Consolidated Schools was one of fourteen schools recognized during the 1998-99 school year by the Michigan Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon Exemplary School.

We are very proud of our students, staff, parents, and community members who made this award possible. It is through their hard work and dedication that Cromie has become an exemplary school for all our students.

In addition, Governor John Engler has recommended Cromie for the Golden Apple Award for consistent high achievement on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP). We are very honored to receive this recognition.

School Attendance Matters

ATTENDANCE

is VERY important!  If your child is late 10 minutes every day, they miss 1760 minutes of instructional time.  That is 50 minutes a week; 18.5 days a year.  All, just for being a little late.

When your child is late, their entry into the classroom disrupts the learning environment.

At the end of the day - when you take your child out early - this also disrupts the classroom and takes valuable instructional time away from your child.

WHEN CAN I SEE MY CHILD'S TEACHER?

Teachers like to communicate with parents.  We are all stakeholders in education.  As a team we can succeed!

Our teachers are very busy during the day and cannot take drop in meetings.  At the start and end of the day is not a good time for drop in appointments either.

The BEST way is to make an appointment with the teacher.  Their email addresses and phone extensions are here at http://www.wcs.k12.mi.us/empdirectory/location.aspx?loc=33

Call or email them and ask for an appointment.  Eery teacher will be moe than happy to meet with your and discuss the success of your child.

The first thing you need to think about when you think about parking at Cromie is the year our building was built - 1962.  In 1962, most of the children attending Cromie walked or were bussed.  Very few people had 2 cars or drove their children to school.  That being said - parking spaces are at a premium.

Parent and visitor parking is in the front lot.  We ask that you do not park in the drop off lanes.  Please pull up, drop or pick up your child, and move on.  If you must get out of your car, please park in a designated parking spot.

Staff parking is in the back of the building.

Always watch out for children in the parking lot and in the streets around Cromie.

You've heard the old saying...Michigan, if you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes and it will change.

That happens to our recess plans regularly.

If it's raining or the playground is too wet, students have an indoor recess.

How cold is too cold?  Our students do not go outside if the temperature or wind chill is below 15°F.  Daily, before lunch recess, we check both to verify our decision.

Make sure your children have the appropriate clothing to enjoy recess:  boots, mittens, gloves, hatsand coats.
