IljkoskiMy name is Elizabeth Iljkoski, and I am excited to serve as the Principal of Grissom Middle School.  This year marks my nineteenth year within the Warren Consolidated School district. Before coming to serve the Grissom community, I served the community of Sterling Heights High School.  I spent thirteen years as a Biology, Anatomy and Chemistry teacher and advisor to many school organizations (such as Student’s Against Destructive Decisions, Freshmen Mentor Program and Co-chair of Senior Student Activities Committee).  After my time in the classroom, I spent five years as one of the assistant principals at Sterling Heights High School. Having served as a teacher, advisor to various school programs and as a school building administrator to this community I am encouraged by the dedication to quality instruction as well as a commitment to forge strong relationships with all students by the Grissom staff to ensure the finest educational experience for our students.

My formal training to become an educator began at Wayne State University, where I earned a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Bachelors of Science in Psychology.  After completing my course work, I began a research assistants’ position at WSU in the College of Neuroscience.  I soon changed my focus from laboratory studies to learning and education.  While teaching at SHHS, I completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching from WSU.    After, I then attended Oakland University to earn an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and obtained my state certification as a K-12 Building Administrator.  I continue to actively participate in professional development courses and attend professional conferences, as I believe that as a leader of the Grissom Community it is important for me to be a Leader of Learners for my students and staff.

Being a part of the outstanding Grissom staff is a very rewarding experience, and I am inspired by the vibrant energy of the students, staff and parents. The dedicated staff and I are committed to guiding our students toward continuous improvement as we work each day to showcase our Grizzly PRIDE!
