Circulation, Overdues and Fines

Library Susick has moved to a fixed schedule as mandated by WCS policy. This means that students (First - Fifth grade) will visit the media center for a class once a week.

If a student finishes their books and would like to read something new, the student is encouraged to visit the media center and exchange their books at the designated times during the school day.  Students may also relax and read on bean bags with a media pass at special times in the school day.

Circulation / Book Check-Out:

How many books can students take at a time?

Kindergarten = 1 book

Grade 1 = 1 book

Grade 2 = 2 items (books, audio-books, or magazines)

Grade 3 = 3 items (books, audio-books, or magazines)

Grade 4 = 3 items (books, audio-books, or magazines)

Grade 5 = 3 items (books, audio-books, or magazines)

How long can I keep them?

All books and magazines are checked out for ten school days

To renew a book just take the book to the media center and pretend you are checking it out for the first time. This will give you an extra two weeks.

If books are not returned within the ten days a block is automatically placed on the students account.

This block warns the student that they have overdue books.

Students who have overdue books are not allowed to check out more books.

Book fines Fines:

Students are not charged fines for overdue books.

If a book is lost, needs repair or damaged beyond repair;  we ask that they pay a replacement cost.
