Dear Wilkerson Elementary Families,

Welcome Wildcats!  I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so thrilled that you are part of our amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you and your children.

All signs point to another incredible and productive school year. The outstanding office team is getting unpacked and organized, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility amidst some very intense bond work. And, our much-appreciated PTO is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. Without question, we are a caring community with the common goals of nurturing PAWSitively successful learners.

Each year brings positive change. This year includes a few additions to our staff. We are delighted to welcome Cori Beach, Social Worker; Robin Brighton, Speech/Language Pathologist; Kim Cooper, Building Secretary; Sawson Jarbo, World of Fours Associate Teacher; Micki Kaminski, Fifth Grade Teacher; Allison Lane, Teacher Consultant; Amy Trandell, Resource Room Teacher; Nicole Turkiela, World of Fours Teacher and Maria West, Third Grade Teacher.  If your child worked with a different person in one of these positions previously, the new staff member will be making contact at the start of the school year.

If you drove past the school or utilized any of our outdoor playing spaces this summer, you may have noticed that our building is quite the construction site! The amazing bond renovations have truly transformed so much of our school in the best way.  To that note, Wilkerson will be a construction site right up to the weekend before the first day of school.  As a result, the annual Sneak Peak for new students in grades TK-5 will not take place this year.  Please visit our school website at to get some important information about the new school year. This information will also be sent to your house along with your child’s Teacher Assignment the week of August 27th.

Thank you to all who are helping prepare for the new school year. Your commitment to insuring that Wilkerson Elementary remains a successful school is inspiring. I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal.  Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children.
