Dear Willow Woods Parents and Students,

I would like to warmly welcome you back to school for the 2017-2018 school year. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer vacation.

Over the past few weeks I have been busy preparing and planning for the upcoming school year. The faculty and staff are also busy preparing the school and getting the classrooms ready for another amazing year that will be filled with a lot of learning and growth. The staff at Willow Woods is an incredible group of highly qualified educators who are dedicated to providing the students with the highest quality of education, one which focuses on student achievement and academic success.

Student success and achievement is one of the many goals we all share here at Willow Woods Elementary. I truly believe that success begins with communication and commitment. In order for every student to achieve their full potential, staff, students, parents and the surrounding community all need to work together to create a strong partnership to help each and every student reach all of their educational goals. I encourage each of you to support your child(ren) by becoming an active member of the Willow Woods community through volunteering, attending school events, or being part of the Willow Woods PTCO. Below are some important dates for beginning of the year school events that I invite you to attend.

  • Tuesday August 29th 1:00-3:00: Find Out Your Child’s Teacher and pick up School Information Packet (Teachers will not be available on this day) Postcards will be mailed out on August 30th for parents unable to come on the 29th. Packets not picked up will go home on the first day of school with students.
  • Tuesday September 5th 8:47am-12:03: First Day of School (Half-Day) Grades 1-5 Enter through the Gym (Door #34)
  • Tuesday September 5th 6:30pm-8:00pm: Meet The Teacher Night w/Special Guest Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Livernois
  • Wednesday, September 6th Full Day of School 8:47-3:59

It has been a busy summer for the district, as they have worked to prepare our school for the upcoming school year by performing drainage replacement, replacing the wood fiber on the playground, replacing equipment and accessories, repaving our school parking lot, replacing our previous school sign with a new LED digital sign, replacing the curtains on our stage, replacing our boiler equipment, upgrading the building’s exterior lighting, as well as upgrading our school network and installing a new phone system. Myself and the entire Willow Woods staff truly appreciate everyone who came out to vote and showed their support for our district millage. These improvements wouldn’t have been possible without your involvement and support.

I thank you in advance for your continued support of Willow Woods Elementary school, and being an active part in your child’s educational experience. I am looking forward to creating yet another successful school year together.
